So the gym leaders and elite four members. Should they be NPC-type characters we come up with as a whole or characters made by individuals? (I vote for the latter, personally.)
Also, how about themes? Rather than going by types, I saw and thought it would be cool if their teams went by certain themes -- a bird team, a reptile team, etc.

Some of us had an idea that there would be 18 gym leaders. 17 of each type, and the 18th has to be challenged last, with a mirror of your team.
Then the E4 and Champion can follow some different sort of theme.
But that's just me. Could be anything...

The idea of so many gym leaders is definitely interesting. It also has a lot more room for people to create characters. ...I like it.
I think maybe the Elite Four should have very mixed teams, though, because all the gym leaders' are so specific and narrow to their own type.

Well, perhaps not all of the gym leaders' Pokemon have to be their specialty type. They can be a different type, but just know an attack that has that type. Volkner has an Octillery and Ambipom for instance, which know Charge Beam and Shock Wave.

That works well, too. So centered around the type -- using moves, although not necessarily Pokémon -- of the type.
With the large amount of gym leaders, the ratio of not-their-type-but-knows-moves Pokémon might have to be larger.

Base the Elite 4 on seasons! Problem solved

...I like that a lot, actually. What about the champion, though?

Champion is obviously multitype

Well, yeah, but any theme on them?

Hrmm. Well, perhaps the champion will change time to time. Depends on who gets to be champion first.
That being said, the team of the first champion filling the spot can perhaps be easier to determine once we've come up with his personality and such.

Okay, fair enough.
And speaking of which, should the gym leaders and Elite Four be NPCs developed together or individual characters of people? I'm voting for the latter -- having certain people be the gym leaders would be cool. We wouldn't let just anyone make a gym leader or Elite Four member, of course, but y'know.

Yeah, it would be a cool idea to do that. Though, does everyone make one character? I was planning on making just a generic trainer, but if people can make gym leaders in addition to that, that'd be cool I guess. Would they have to play both characters? I already have a lot of ideas springing forth in my head.

I'm not sure how character numbers would work out. I was thinking since a lot of this seems to be people writing other people's characters, you could make a bunch, but they'd be used by other people. (With the exception of in RP, but in comics, art, stories then yeah, they'd be writing your character.)
I think if we're going to go by a one character rule, then allowing certain people to have gym leaders/Elite Four in addition to that wouldn't be a problem.

(you mean former, not the latter. Latter is the last one you stated) I agree though, we should collectively flesh out NPC gym leaders. Along the storyline, perhaps shit can happen to them and they get replace. Who knows. But for now we should have gym leaders fleshed out collectively by us all.

I think we should allow people to create as many characters as they like. Just so long as they aren't Mary Sues or dare I say, GARY "stu" OAK
Also, as long as the characters remain canon
